How to Get What You Want

At times, we feel that the things we want out of life are unobtainable. However, that is not the case. We can choose to feel that we have no control over our success or life outcomes, or we can choose to recognize that God has given us authority and He wants us to have the desires of our hearts. But, we have to do our part. Let’s explore the acronym – HOOP.

1. Hardwork – Ephesians 3:20 “ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. You have to do your part. God will always do His.

2. Obedience – You must obey God and those who have authority over you. You must obey and follow the unctions of the Holy Spirit.

1 Samuel 15:22, “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” God will always honor your obedience to His word.

3. Optimism – remaining optimistic will cause your words to create your world. Often times we speak out of our mouth that we will never have a certain thing.

Even if it’s something that we really want. This is counterproductive and also a sign that we do not understand how powerful our words are. We must ask God to continue to renew our minds.

Psalm 27:13 says, I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

4. PatiencePsalm 27:14 follows to say, “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” God does tell His people no. However, a lot of times we confuse “wait” with “no”. We must exercise patience.

Habakkuk 2:3 says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

The first “tarry” in this scripture means delayed or pointed towards a future time. The second “tarry” means, fail to arrive. Let’s rewrite the scripture with these definitions in mind, “ For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it is pointed towards a future time, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not fail to arrive.

I hope this serves as some encouragement to you today. Be big, be balanced, be blessed. #HOOPLIFE
