How to build a team

Hey guys! I missed last week because I have been super busy preparing for a new business venture. It’s been a stretching experience for sure but I am thankful for the people that God has placed in my path to help me along this journey. This posture of gratefulness led me to a thought. How does one build a team?

Any vision that God gives you, you more than likely will not be able to accomplish alone. Yes, the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you but you need to surround yourself with people that will support and push your vision. In order to know who these people are, there are a couple of things you should do first.

Be very specific in asking God for wisdom in selecting your team. He will send you what you need but there will be some counterfeits along the way. These are the people the enemy uses as a distraction. Prayer and time with God will help maintain and sharpen your focus and discernment.

Be truthful and honest about your weakness and your abilities. Maybe you can’t do all of the bookkeeping. Maybe you aren’t good with paperwork. Maybe your schedule is hectic and your calendar is already full. Whatever the case is, be honest about it and don’t try to do it alone. Be humble and willing to ask for help. Remember, you have not because you ask not.

Be careful. Don’t be so zealous that you allow everyone to put their hands in the fruition of your vision. Don’t assign people tasks out of desperation either. Handle your vision and your dreams with care and one day, they will take care of you and the people connected to you.

Team building is an art and there will definitely be some bumps in the road. Everything God gives us will cause us to feel like we have to reach outside of ourselves. It will be bigger than your current state so to speak because His desire is that you grow in all things. However, God will send you the resources you need in order for you to carry out the vision He has given you. Do not be afraid. Move out on faith. When you take one step, He will take two!

Until next time, be big, be balanced, be blessed.
